Yeah i had colour on my hair and i'd coloured it pretty recently, but i'd advise waiting for a few washes after you've dyed it and not dying it straight after, just so you can get all the dark dye washed out properly before you put on the ombre kit, if you know what i mean :)

Yeah the ombre kit is just bleach, the standard lightening powder and lightening creme you get in most bleaching kits.
You could dye your hair with a light brown dye, but you should be aware that when your hair is bleached or dry it's more porous, which means it'll absorb the colour quicker, so i would keep a keen eye on the dye when it's on your hair, and leave it on for less than the time it advises on the packet, because you could end up with really dark ends because your ends have absorbed the colour far too much.
In my experience less than half the dyeing time they usually recommend would be ok, but as i say keep an eye on the colour your hair is going and if it starts looking too dark then take it off straight away.

also for the brassiness, have you tried a purple shampoo? It seems to deal with the brassy notes in my hair really well! Most brands do one now, i've heard a lot of good things about the John Frieda and Lee Stafford ones, i use the Pro:Voke Touch Of Silver range which i bought from Sainsburys :)

I hope this helps in some way and that your hair turns out ok, keep me posted!! I find leaving conditioner on my hair overnight really helps nourish my bleached ends too, wearing a turby towel from Primark over the conditioner stops the messiness on your pillow haha!

Hmmmm may not dye the ends as I'm not a good keeper of time lol.

I've got the touch of silver shampoo but haven't used it as much to notice a change I guess.

If I were to dye my hair all one colour to my natural colour using Clairol Perfect 10 Medium Brown... would the ends of my hair where it's been bleached go darker than the top of my head?

Haha it's easy to get distracted when you're dyeing your hair isn't it! Maybe, I find it makes the brassiness appear reduced but obviously it's not a miracle and eventually my hair gets so brassy it just needs ombreing again!
To dye over bleached hair it helps if you have a dye with red undertones, as opposed to ash, does it say anywhere on the box that its a ash? Cos ash colours neutralise red undertones, whereas red undertones neutralise brassiness in the hair.
I'd say the same as before though, keep an eye on your hair but my friend recently dyed over her dipdye with a dark brown dye and it was fine for her, her hair was all one colour :)

It will definitely compromise the quality of your hair,no doubt about it, bleach just does that! But I didn't find that it was irreparable damage or anything, my hair is back in good condition now :) xxx

Yeah I've dyed my hair every colour under the sun! Haha it may go slightly gingery to start off with, I'd suggest investing in a purple shampoo!, but I've dip dyed it twice now and I love the effect! Xxx

It did when I first did it yes I agree, but as I said at the end the colour got less orange and brassy after a little while :) plus since I've dip dyed it again it looks loads better in my opinion! But it's not for everyone I admit haha :)

I reckon the lighter your hair obviously the lighter the bleach would make it go, I'm not sure of the difference in strengths of bleach in the different types of wild ombres you can buy, I'd just go for the one that's suited to your hair type, so the one I used for my hair sounds like it'd do for you, or the number 2, just to be on the safe side :) xxx

All this dye does is lighten the colour your hair already is, so if there's red tones in your hair I'd expect it'd lighten them and bring them out, making it gingery.
You might have to use two packs, like I did, although don't use them in quick succession, give your hair some recovery time because bleach is extremely damaging to it!

also, both of us have never dyed before, and at first I wondered if this product was temporary too! would be great if you could suggest some with no ammonia, as my friend has very "sensitive" hair and would like to try one with none for the first time :)

I would say you would have to bleach it twice with this kit, once won't give you a light blonde colour!
